The UNESCO LaSII annual meeting took place in Jakarta (Indonesia) on July, 23 2024. The summit was a great occasion to discuss the state-of-the-art mitigation and adaptation strategies to combat Land Subsidence and Sea Level Rise threatening Jakarta and similar places around the world.

The 10th International Symposium on Land Subsidence took place in Delft–Gouda, the Netherlands from 17 – 21 April 2023. The symposium is organised under the auspices of LaSII. Land subsidence is a major problem that threatens the viability and sustainable economic development for millions of people throughout the world, especially in (but not restricted to) highly urbanized coastal areas. It is often a result of overexploitation of groundwater resources. The total costs globally amount up to many billions of dollars annually.

We announce that the 11th International Symposium on Land Subsidence (EISOLS) will take place in Spring 2026 at the Taipei International Conference Center (Taiwan).
