Ashley Greuter is the Director of Research and Water Conversation for the Harris-Galveston Subsidence District where she leads several programs to ensure the District has the foremost subsidence research and water conservation programs in the Texas Gulf Coast region. She administers the Science and Research Program focused on advancing hydrogeological research, exploring subsidence impacts and monitoring the land surface. Research interests include developing groundwater flow and subsidence models; projecting future population growth, water demand, and subsidence; monitoring the land surface using a variety of remote sensing technologies; assessing water resources and use; estimating economic impacts from the adverse consequences of subsidence like flooding and infrastructure damage; and evaluating feasibility of alternative water supplies to mitigate subsidence. Her work directly supports the groundwater withdrawal policies in the region. She also oversees the award-winning Water Conservation Programs that promote the value of water to change human behaviors and offer educational materials, tools and resources to reduce water use both indoors and outdoors for residents to businesses to water utilities. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Classical Studies, cum laude, and Bachelor of Science, summa cum laude, in Geology from the University of Florida, a Master of Science in Geological Sciences from the University of Massachusetts (Amherst) and is a licensed Professional Geoscientist (P.G.) in Texas. She serves as the representative for Fort Bend County (Texas, USA) in regional water planning groups and is involved in state-wide groundwater management agencies and water conservation/reuse committees.
